M. B. Powell

M. B. Powell’s poems have appeared in various journals, including Atlanta Review, Dappled Things, The Lyric, Mezzo Cammin, Peregrine, Third Wednesday, and Smoky Blue. Collections include a chapbook, Lovers, Mothers, Killers, Others (2013), and two books, In Relation to the Surface (2019) and Two Neutron Stars Collide; or, Everyone’s Love Affair (2019). Powell studied literature at Agnes Scott College (B.A.), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.A.), and Columbia University (Ph.D.) and earned a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. She has taught at Florida State University, Saint Martin’s University, and Pierce College and has published, as Marta Powell Harley, scholarly books, articles, and notes on medieval literature. A native of Marietta, Georgia, she now lives in Olympia, Washington.
