Author's Bio

Mary Ann Malinchak Rishel is a Professor Emerita in writing at Ithaca College and former Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. A fiction writer, she won the Best American Short Story Award for her story “Staus,” which was made into a film for PBS, and she also published numerous short stories and an academic book, Writing Humor: Creativity and the Comic Mind. Rishel died at the age of eighty-three in Ithaca, New York on July 25, 2023.
