Author's Bio

Mary Newell teaches creative writing and "nature writing" at UConn Stamford. She authored the poetry chapbooks Re-SURGE and TILT/ HOVER/ VEER, poems in journals and anthologies, and essays including “When Poetry Rivers” (Interim journal 38.3). She is co-editor of Poetics for the More-than-Human World anthology and the forthcoming Routledge Companion to Ecopoetry.  Dr. Newell (MA Columbia, BA Berkeley) received a doctorate from Fordham University in American Literature, with a focus on literature and the environment. She lives, writes, and gardens in the Hudson Highlands.
