Author's Bio

M.G. Martin is from the Big Island of Hawaii, his poetry is concerned with the ways in which sound & image can be deconstructed within the confines of a particular culture. This deconstruction can either illuminate or alleviate uncomfortable facets of a particular culture. His collection of poetry, One For None (Ink.), is separated into two sections (Spoken & Words) reflecting all his styles. Martin tackles the spoken word and wrestles it onto the page until his rhythm and cadence sing with the poem. His written section blends style and tradition; an understanding of how the poem works and a diligence to completely break the rules. The poems expand and contract on his whim, are minimal and expansive at the same time. One For None speaks from an old soul in the lingo of the hippest poet in the city.
