Author's Bio

Oonagh Stransky has been a translator of Italian literature for the past 20 years. She has worked with editors at small, independent publishing companies and at large, international ones. Some of the writers whose work she has brought into English include Pasolini, Lucarelli, Pontiggia, and Saviano. Stransky started studying Italian at Middlebury Language Schools in 1986, got her BA in Comparative Literature from Mills College and UC Berkeley in 1989, and her MA in Italian from Columbia University in 2002. She has participated in translation workshops with Tim Parks and at the Middlebury College Bread Loaf Translation Conference. She collaborates with agents in Italy, is an active member of ALTA and PEN, and currently lives in Italy.
