Author's Bio

P.W. Bridgman is a twice Pushcart Prize-nominated writer of poetry, short fiction and literary criticism. In 2018 he was one of nine participants in the intensive writing summer school program offered by the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen’s University, Belfast—an experience that he says was a transformative one in his writing life.

Bridgman has, in press, a hybrid volume entitled The World You Now Own. It comprises new poems and a novella in verse and will be published in early 2024 by Ekstasis Editions.  His most recent books—a selection of poems entitled Idiolect and a selection of short stories and flash fiction entitled The Four-Faced Liar—were both published by Ekstasis Editions in 2021. Those volumes were preceded by A Lamb (poetry) in 2018, also an Ekstasis publication. Bridgman’s first book—a selection of short fiction entitled Standing at an Angle to My Age—came out in 2013 under the Libros Libertad imprint.

Bridgman’s poems and stories have appeared (or are forthcoming) in, among other outlets, One Hand Clapping, Wildfire Words, Streetlight Magazine, ZiN Daily, Stanza Canon, Postscript Magazine, The Miramichi Reader, The Moth Magazine, The Glasgow Review of Books, The Canadian Journal of Irish Studies, Litro UK, Litro NY, The Honest Ulsterman, The High Window, The Bangor Literary Journal, The Galway Review, The Maynard, The Canadian Poetry Review, Ars Medica, Poetry Salzburg Review, Grain, The Antigonish Review, Pottersfield Portfolio and other literary periodicals, e-zines and anthologies. His literary criticism has been published in such newspapers and journals as The Globe and Mail, the Vancouver Sun, The Glasgow Review of Books, London Grip, The British Columbia Review and The High Window

Bridgman has done many public readings of his creative work at literary venues in his native British Columbia and abroad (including at the United Arts Club in Dublin, the Tchai Ovna Teahouse in Glasgow, the Open Studio in Melbourne, the Accidental Theatre in Belfast and, most recently, the Parkside Lounge in New York).
