Cooper lives on the Colorado Front Range and is the founder and managing editor of Sequestrum (www.sequestrum.org). Dozens of his short stories have appeared in journals including Adroit, American Literary Review, Baltimore Review, Berkeley Fiction Review, Best American Experimental Writing, The Best Small Fictions, Cream City Review, Denver Quarterly, Diagram, Fourteen Hills, Fugue, Gulf Coast, Lumina, Midwestern Gothic, Natural Bridge, Normal School, Oxford Magazine, Prairie Schooner, Passages North, The Pinch, Portland Review, Redivider, Sierra Nevada Review, Southern Indiana Review, STORY Magaznie, Vine Leaves, Willow Springs, Wisconsin Review, Yemassee, and elsewhere.
