Author's Bio

Rebecca Pelky received her MFA from Northern Michigan University, and is a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Missouri, where she is a Gus T. Ridgel Fellow. She is a member of the Brothertown Indian Nation of Wisconsin, and her ancestors were Mohegan, Mohican, Pequot, Wangunk, Tunxis, Cherokee, African, British, German, and French. In a former career, Rebecca spent thirteen years as a zookeeper and wildlife dietician. She has been widely published in journals and anthologies, including River Styx, BoothThe Chattahoochee Review, and Cream City Review. Horizon of the Dog Woman is her first collection of poems. She is currently working on a second book of poetry, Through a Red Place, and the 3rd Edition of Hiking Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
