Author's Bio

I am an award-winning author of 29 books for children, including picture books & novels. My varied books are often about the power of imagination and feeling. Some of them implicitly encourage children to recognize and appreciate the stories around them and to write their own. I love using what I call delicious words--words that entice children into repeating & using them. I write from deep feeling and hope to convey that to children. Many adults say they enjoy my books. I have spoken to groups of both children & adults and have taught courses in Writing Children's Literature.
