Author's Bio

Sandra Marchetti is the author of two full-length collections of poetry, Aisle 228, forthcoming from Stephen F. Austin State University Press (April 2023), and Confluence from Sundress Publications (2015). She is also the author of four chapbooks of poetry and lyric essays, including The Canopy from MWC Press (2012). Sandra’s poetry and essays appear widely in Pleiades, Ecotone, Southwest Review, Poet Lore, Subtropics, and elsewhere. Sandy is the former Poetry Editor at River Styx Magazine and has taught literature and creative writing independently and at liberal arts colleges for the past 15 years. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing—Poetry from George Mason University and now serves as the Coordinator of Tutoring Services at the College of DuPage in the Chicagoland area.

Stephen F. Austin State University Press chose Sandra Marchetti’s Aisle 228, a full-length manuscript of poems on baseball, as a selection for their 2023 Poetry Series. Aisle 228 was previously a finalist for the 2021 Barry Spacks Prize from Gunpowder Press, The Word Works' Washington Prize, the 2021 Lauria/Frasca Prize from Bordighera Press, and the 2019 Moon City Press Poetry Award. Sandra's other full-length manuscript-in-progress, DIORAMA, was recently a finalist for the 2020 Moon City Press Poetry Award and Bordighera Press' Lauria/Frasca Prize. Erin Elizabeth Smith selected Sandra's book, Confluence, to be published in Sundress Publications' 2015 catalog. Sandy won 2nd Prize in Prick of the Spindle's 2014 Poetry Open Competition for her poem, "One Secret." She also won Midwest Writing Center’s 2011 Mississippi Valley Chapbook Contest for The Canopy. Sandy has served as a writer-in-residence at University of Southern Indiana, Millikin University, Asnuntuck Community College, Sundress Academy for the Arts, Hambidge Center, and an artist’s fellow at Vermont Studio Center and Write On, Door County. Her manuscript, "Confluence," was also a quarterfinalist for Able Muse’s 2012 Book Award. She was a finalist in Mary Journal's 2015 Editors' Prize, Gulf Coast’s 2011 Poetry Prize and Phoebe's 2009 Greg Grummer Poetry Contest.
