Shawna Kenney

Shawna Kenney is an award-winning author and journalist. Her articles have appeared in Juxtapoz, Swindle Magazine, the LA Weekly, Florida Review, Indy Star, Transworld Skateboarding, Alternative Press, and numerous other publications. Her profile and feature articles focus on art, pop culture, counterculture, feminism and animal rights. She is an experienced literary host and recipient of several Poets & Writers' James Irvine Foundation grants for her Los Angeles reading series, the Unhappy Hour.
She has been a featured panelist at Goucher College, Sarah Lawrence, UCLA, Cal-State Long Beach, Cal-State Fullerton, Ladyfest LA, the DIY Convention, University of North Carolina Wilmington, the Hollywood Public Library, Hustler Hollywood, while her work has aired on the BBC and NPR.
She teaches private creative writing workshops online through her company, pinchbackpress.com, and for the UCLA Extension Writers' Program. She lives in the Washington, DC area.
