Tony Medina

Tony Medina is a full professor of creative writing at Howard University in Washington, DC. The author/editor of nineteen books for adults and young people, Medina's work is featured in over one hundred publications. A Pushcart Prize nominated poet, Medina is a two-time winner of the Paterson Prize for Books for Young People and holds an MA and PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from Binghamton University, State University of New York. He divides his time between New York City and the Washington, DC metropolitan area. His most recent books are the anthology against police brutality, Resisting Arrest: Poems to Stretch the Sky (Jacar Press, 2016), the graphic novel, I Am Alfonso Jones (Tu Books, 2017), and Thirteen Ways of Looking At a Black Boy (Penny Candy Books, 2018).
