Author's Bio

Tricia Alkmia Cochée is a fourth generation native Californian with ancestral roots that stretch to the country of South Africa, West Africa, the Caribbean and India.

Poet, independent journalist and writer, cultural arts producer and promoter, massage therapist and health educator, her focus has been on wholistic health and wellness education, the literary arts, and travel. 

She has worked with the following arts and education organizations producing and promoting cultural events including BlackCulturalEvents.com, City of Los Angeles/Salvador Bahia, Brasil Sister City Committee, The Leimert Park Literary Festival Tribute to Wanda Coleman, The African Marketplace & Cultural Faire, Ford Theatre, Pan African Film Festival, Malcolm X Arts & Education FAMLI Festival, International Black Writers & Artists LA, St. Elmo Village, We Can Foundation, HopeLA, and The Nubian Foundation. 

A co-founder of SWAAM (Spoken Word, Art and Music) poetry lounge, her poetry, prose and writing has been featured in many venues and publications including Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center; City of Los Angeles  African American Heritage Month Calendar; Who's Who In Black Los Angeles, Inaugural Edition; and the Voices from Leimert Park Redux.

She is a proud member of The World Stage Anansi Writers Workshop and Community Literature Initiative (CLI); California African American Museum (CAAM) History Council; National Association of Black Journalists LA Chapter (NABJLA); and BADWest Black documentary filmmakers.
