Ulf Kirchdorfer is Professor of English. He was selected the Carnegie Foundation U.S. Professor of the Year for the State of Georgia in 2001, and served as Board of Regents Distinguished Professor of Teaching and Learning in 1996-1997 and 1997-1998. Ulf is a pioneer in the field of distance learning--television, GSAMS, and online--having won numerous awards for his work. Ulf has had poetry published in numerous venues, including Rolling Stone, Poet Lore, Poetry Daily, Tar River Poetry Review, Harvard Review, The Christian Science Monitor, Mudfish, New York Quarterly, and Blue Mesa Review. His book of poems, Chewing Green Leaves, was published by Lamar University Literary Press in August 2015 and Swede Among the Rednecks: The Language That Just Won't Stay Buried, a collection of essays, was released in December 2015 by Nordstjernan Förlag, Swedish News, Inc. He is co-editor, with Jerry Bradley, of The Great American Wise Ass Poetry Anthology scheduled for publication in early 2016. His latest book of poems is Hamlet in Exile, from Lamar University Literary Press. Ulf's essays of literary criticism have been published in journals such as The Faulkner Journal and Walt Whitman Quarterly Review, and he has recent essays on William Faulkner in American Studies in Scandinavia, ANQ, Eureka: Studies in Teaching Short Fiction, and The Explicator. Ulf's writings on education have been published by the Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed. He is a contributor to the Academe Blog. Ulf also writes a column for the Swedish-American newspaper Nordstjernan, established in 1872, and is a contributor to the magazine Nordic Reach. His work has been published by Runner's World, Marathon & Beyond, Canadian Running, UltraRunning Magazine, and other running publications. He and his wife Kristin have two mini-dachshunds, Greta and Ilsa.
