Author's Bio

William M. Hoffman wrote the play "As Is," which played on Broadway in 1985. It has received innumerable other pro¬ductions, including recent London and Edinburgh revivals. Hoffman wrote the libretto to "The Ghosts of Ver¬sailles" (music by John Corigliano), which premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in December, 1991. This January 2015 the Los Angeles Opera reprised it, as did Wolf Trap in July. Hoffman has also written the libretto to "Morning Star" (music by Ricky Ian Gordon), which premiered in June 2015 at the Cincinnati Opera, and "The Cows of Apollo" at the Aspen Festival.

Hoffman is a professor of theatre at Lehman College, of the City University of New York, where he hosts "Conversations with William M. Hoffman," on CUNY-TV.
