This two-day celebration of poetry, in honor of National Poetry Month, will feature special presentations from distinguished poets at 10 am on April 5th, including Anissa Moore - Deputy County Executive, Nassau County, and Lindamichelle Baron - Poet Laureate of the Town of Hempstead and Paula Curci - co-producer of the festival, and Poet Laureate Emerita. Followed by a marathon day of curated readings from groups like The Scene, The Caribbean American Poetry Association and workshops conducted by Adriana Devers from Cuentos De Triadas and Judy Turek from the Flash Mob and Farmingdale Writers and more. There will be information tables, and two open mics: The Shore Poets open at 3 pm and Alan Semerdjian, Nassau County Poet Laureate, who will perform at 7pm followed up by a second open mic. Semerdjian is an Armenian-American writer, educator, and musician. He will also feature Deborah Hauser, the Suffolk County Poet Laureate, and promises a surprise musical guest. The event celebrates National Poetry Month, which "celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture and shows that poetry matters."
