ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23TH AT 5PM, POETS ANNE WALDMAN, NO LAND, AND JOEY DE JESUS WILL PRESENT AN HOUR-LONG EVENING OF  POETRY AS PART OF THE SEGUE READING SERIES FALL LINE-UP 2024 AT ARTISTS SPACE.

THE POETS
Anne Waldman is the author of over 60 volumes of poetry, poetics, and anthologies including The Iovis Trilogy: Colors in The Mechanism of Concealment which won the PEN Center Literary Prize. Recent books include Bard,Kinetic,  Tendrel: A Meeting of Minds, Mesopotopia and the album Astral Omens. Waldman co-founded the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics program at Naropa University with the most celebrated poets in America, the Beat Generation. 

No Land’s art & poetry books include Authentic Artifice and The Velvet Wire, co-authored with Anne Waldman. She has performed at The Poetry Project, Giorno Poetry Systems, Rewire Festival, Jazzfest Berlin, Tribes Gallery, Roulette, and with the Ginsberg Estate. Her art & cinema works are in the Whitney Museum digital collection, Fotografiska Museum, Zebra Poetry Film Festival, and on the street corners of NYC.

Joey De Jesus authored HOAX Limited Artist Set and the chapbooks We Animate the Dream: A Poet’s Run for Public Office  and NOCT-  The Threshold of Madness. Recipient of a BRIC ArtFP Project Room Commission, Joey is co-editor at Apogee Journal and lives in Ridgewood, Queens where they ran for NY Assembly District 38 in 2020.

THE CURATORS
Regie Cabico, a spoken word pioneer and current Executive Director of A Gathering of the Tribes, won the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam. His TV credits include HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, TEDx and NPR’s Snap Judgment. His first full-length poetry collection A Rabbit in Search of a Rolex was released by Day Eight in 2023.

Drew Pisarra is the author of two short story collections, You’re Pretty Gay (2021) and Publick Spanking (1996), two sonnet collections, Infinity Standing Up (2019) and Periodic Boyfriends (2023); and two radio plays, The Strange Case of Nick M. (2021) and Price in Purgatory (2023). 

A Gathering of Tribes – founded in 1991 by blind poet, playwright, and former professor Steve Cannon (1935–2019) – is a non-profit arts organization based in New York City that provides a platform for diverse, traditionally underrepresented artists and writers. amplifying the emerging and established revolutionary voices of our time.

The Segue Foundation is an internationally-renowned arts organization based in New York City with a history of commitment to innovative literature, film, and dance. Segue sponsors the experimental Segue Reading Series, a legendary series that has run continuously in New York City for over 40 years.

The Segue Reading Series for Fall 2024 continues every Saturday through Nov. 23 at Artists Space (11 Cortlandt Alley, New York, NY, 10013). Tickets are $5 at the door.
