Editorial Focus
Since 1950, the BPJ has been publishing poetry that matters. They are open to a wide range of forms and styles in contemporary poetry. They are always watching for new poets, quickened language, and poems with a fresh purchase on the political or social landscape.
Tips From the Editor
We do not charge reading fees during our general reading periods (January 1 to 31 and July 1 to 31). We have two contest reading periods that require fees: the Adrienne Rich Award for Poetry (February 1 to April 30) and the Chad Walsh Chapbook Series (September 1 to November 30). We allow simultaneous submissions and are conscientious about responding to manuscripts promptly. In return, we ask that you honor our guidelines listed on our website.
