Editorial Focus

FLARE Magazine publishes stories, hybrids, essays, art, and poetry about chronic illnesses, disabilities, and mental health, written by those who experience at least one of these. FLARE hopes to spread awareness about these topics and help others, whether they deal with these or not, to learn about these topics so that we can foster an accepting community.

Tips From the Editor

  • Avoid using lots of special formatting for poetry submissions, as WordPress struggles to do fancy formatting.
  • Please submit prose and poetry in Microsoft Word, but if you don’t have this, PDF is fine.
  • The stories, essays, and poems submitted must be about disabilities, chronic illnesses, and/or mental health. Art doesn’t have to be, but the artist must be disabled, chronically ill, and/or deal with mental health.
