Tips From the Editor
We like smart, snappy lines and delightful twists get our attention. We like well-shaped contemporary verse with deft use of images, unusual metaphors, and fine attention to detail. Most subjects are fair game; we will also consider science fiction, fantasy, and horror. We tend to dislike overt sentiment, breakup poetry, Overly sappy love poetry, pieces more suited to live performance, political rants, pornography, and derogatory work. Rhyming poetry is a hard sell unless done well, but we do take it. We also take forms. Push the envelope, but be tasteful about it. Do not submit if you are not open to the occasional edit.
