Editorial Focus
Magazine1 serves as both a showcase of excellent writing from around the world, and a literary hub for the Sarasota / Saint Pete / Tampa area. The editors want to showcase work that challenges their understanding of what writing is and who it is that is writing. They are not an explicitly experimental journal and are happy to receive submissions that practice traditional forms. They encourage their submitters to give them work they might have a hard time placing elsewhere. This may be because it defies genre expectations or it may have somewhat challenging subject matter.
Tips From the Editor
Send us work you feel is different than what you usually write. That weird, 3 AM story that just had to get out but gets weird looks from the other files on your computer.
