Editorial Focus
Stepping Stones Lit Magazine is a student-run publication dedicated to uplifting emerging and established voices from around the world. Originally launched for the Webb Schools community, it now welcomes global submissions in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. The editors’ mission is to serve as a stepping stone for writers to share their work, gain recognition, and grow creatively. They value work that is bold, authentic, subtle, and raw—pieces that embrace risk, explore form, and tell stories with emotional honesty.
Tips From the Editor
We’re drawn to writing that balances veracity with with artistry—work that feels emotionally honest and stylistically purposeful. Let your voice come through boldly, whether it whispers or roars. Experiment with form—break the line, bend the paragraph, leave the ending hanging. Let the writing be funky, weird; break the conventions. We love narratives that resist linear storytelling. Surprise us: start at the end, circle back, or pause in the middle. Above all, write what only you can write.
