BLK + BRWN. is a woman-owned, independent bookstore in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri, which opened on Juneteenth in 2021 in an effort to uplift and amplify Black voices and offer a space for the Black and Brown community. The shop uses technology to its advantage, placing unique QR codes on various books that link a reader to an experience that is paired to the book, including speeches by Black activists and wine suggestions from Black sommeliers. BLK + BRWN. has its own podcast and hosts frequent events including book club meetings, author talks, and book signings. The shop is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
