The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps, and manuscripts in its collections. The Library of Congress is home to the Center for the Book and the Poetry & Literature Center, which both host author discussions, Poet Laureate readings, and more. The Library also hosts the Poetry 180 program for high schoolers, and each summer it runs the National Book Festival.
