Snapdragon Inn

Constructed in 1815 by John Skinner, 26 Main Street was long owned by Maxwell Perkins, who vacationed here in the summer. Perkins is best known as the editor for F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe, and Ernest Hemingway, among others.

The house was renovated in 2010 and borders Paradise Park, which includes a lake and walking trails. Now the home to Snapdragon Inn, it offers nine rooms, each with a full private bath, custom bedding, air conditioning, wireless Internet, and HD televisions. Continental breakfast is included and the dining room is available for lunch and dinner. The Inn also features the Maxwell Perkins Library, which contains books related to the house’s history and its famous residents.
