The Elting Memorial Library offers the residents of New Paltz a wide variety of services, collections, and resources. Its mission is to promote literacy, build community, and inspire lifelong learning. The Library’s extensive collections, unique historical holdings, cultural programs, services and events, provided in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, are an accessible resource for all.
The library also hosts Next Year’s Words, a reading forum in New Paltz for creative writing in local communities. It aims to mix young and seasoned voices, juxtaposing works of fiction, poetry, memoir and nonfiction from different stages of life. Each event includes an open mic, refreshments, and intriguing introductions. The events are endorsed by Wallkill Valley Writers and the SUNY New Paltz English Department.
