La Vida Dominican Post Baccalaureate scholarships and assistantships of up to $12,000 over an academic year are awarded on a competitive basis. All students receive the MFA Scholarship of $300 each semester including the summer semester. Two student employment positions support co-curricular learning in teaching and publishing practicums.
The program offers an optional track in narrative medicine and frequent Writing for Health and Healing Retreats in which MFA students are invited to lead writing workshops.
Students attend two residencies each year, an eight-day residency in January and an ten-day residency in June, at the Dominican University of California campus in San Rafael. Students are also invited to attend monthly writing workshops either on campus or online.
The application deadline is December 1 for the January residency and May 1 for the June residency.
