Washington Square Review is open year-round to review pitches and submissions of finished reviews for online publication. They are not interested in the kind of book review which focuses on plot summary, star ratings, and market trends. They are looking for pieces that are analytical in nature, offer disagreeable opinions, and help to preserve texts that may not survive the logic of the market. They are particularly interested in covering books in translation, books from small presses, experimental books, and books that haven’t gotten their due. Send pitches in the body of an e-mail or send complete reviews as attachments via e-mail to wsr.books@gmail.com.
Find details about every creative writing competition—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, grants for translators, and more—that we’ve published in the Grants & Awards section of Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it in the Writing Contests database, the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere.
