A prize of $5,000 AUD (approximately $3,236) is given annually for an essay. A second-place prize of $3,000 AUD (approximately $1,942) and a third-place prize of $2,000 AUD (approximately $1,294) are also awarded. The winners are published in Australian Book Review. Using only the online submission system, submit an essay of 2,000 to 5,000 words with an entry fee of $30 AUD (approximately $19), or $20 AUD (approximately $13) for ABR subscribers, by January 28.
