New York, NY -- The September/October 2012 issue of Poets & Writers Magazine features the 2013 MFA Index, with detailed information about 85 full-residency and 29 low-residency graduate writing programs.
This is the sixth year that Poets & Writers Magazine has offered a special section on MFA programs. "The MFA can be an expensive proposition," says Mary Gannon, editorial director of Poets & Writers, Inc., "so helping applicants make a considered, well-informed decision has become a key part of our service to the community of writers."
In order to provide potential applicants a reliable source of up-to-date information, Poets & Writers Magazine's editorial team dedicated months to research and independent fact-checking, says Gannon. "While you might expect that most of the information in the Index would be easy to find online, in fact it is not, making an apples-to-apples comparison really tricky." The 2013 MFA Index provides potential applicants a wide range of information to consider, including popularity, selectivity, funding, student-faculty ratio, fellowship placement, job placement, and more. Poets & Writers' companion online MFA database lists information about 210 programs, including core faculty, admission deadlines, and contact information for each program.
