The American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute offers workshops to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers from July 1 to July 23 on the university’s campus in the seventh arrondissement of Paris. The faculty includes poet and fiction writer Siân Dafydd and poet and nonfiction writer Biswamit Dwibedy. The cost of tuition is €2,156 (approximately $2,341) for auditors; the cost of tuition for transferable academic credit is €4,312 (approximately $4,681). Lodging is available in residence halls and is arranged through the university. To apply, writers submitted a personal statement and academic transcripts (or a copy of a tertiary degree for auditors) with a €50 (approximately $54) application fee by June 1. To apply for one of three travel stipends of up to €500 (approximately $543), writers submitted via e-mail a creative writing sample of three to five poems of any length or 5 to 10 pages of prose and a paragraph explaining how this course in Paris might help you develop as a writer, in addition to the completed summer application materials and fee, by March 29.
