The 2024 Red Clay Writers Conference, sponsored by the Georgia Writers Association, was held on April 20 at Kennesaw State University. The conference featured writing workshops and panels on literary journals and publishing for poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers. Presenters included poets Emma Bolden, Mario Chard, Valerie A. Smith, Monica Lee Weatherly, and Cocoa Williams; fiction writers Anthony “Tony” Grooms, Michaeljulius Y. Idani, Wanda M. Morris, and George Weinstein; and nonfiction writers Regina N. Bradley, Kurt Edward Milberger, and Megan Volpert. Fiction writer Chantel Acevedo delivered the keynote address. The cost of the conference was $85; students and Georgia Writers Association members received a 30 percent discount. Scholarships were available; to apply, writers submitted 10 pages of poetry or prose and a cover letter. Registration was rolling through April 11. Visit the website for more information.
