Dylan Hicks's "West Texas Winds"

Songwriter and musician Dylan Hicks, whose debut novel, Boarded Windows, was published in May by Coffee House Press, recorded an album as a companion piece to the book. Dylan Hicks Sings Bolling Greene, featuring "West Texas Winds," is named after the fictional seventies country music star for whom the book's protagonist, Wade Salem, plays bass guitar. Sam Lipsyte interviewed Hicks for our twelfth-annual roundup of debut fiction in the July/August 2012 issue.

Dylan Hicks's "Now You Are a Country Deejay in Berlin"

Songwriter and musician Dylan Hicks, whose debut novel, Boarded Windows, was published in May by Coffee House Press, recorded an album as a companion piece to the book. In the July/August 2012 issue, Sam Lipsyte interviews Hicks about the book and the album, saying, "It's sort of a writer's dream. I'm really enjoying Dylan Hicks Sings Bolling Greene, first as a really good album, but also as this other part of the Boarded Windows experience. It doubles down on the humor and pathos!"
