Author's Bio

darlene anita scott is a poet and visual artist whose work explores corporeal presentations of trauma and the violence of silence and is especially interested in these expressions in black girlhood. 

She co-edited Revisiting the Elegy in the Black Lives Matter Era (Routledge) and her collection Marrow (University Press of Kentucky) imagines Peoples Temple, a Christian congregation of Americans who immigrated to Guyana and were subsequently coerced into suicide by their spiritual leader.

Scott's art has been featured in The Journal, The West Review, and A Journal of Compressed Arts among others, and her photography appears in Barren Magazine, Persephone's Daughters, and Auburn Avenue.
