Author's Bio

Dorothy Rice is an author, editor and certified Amherst Writers and Artists Method affiliate. After raising five children and retiring from a career in environmental protection, she earned an MFA in Creative Writing from UC Riverside, Palm Desert, at 60. Her first book, The Reluctant Artist, an art book/memoir, was published by Shanti Arts in October 2015. Her second memoir, Gray Is the New Black from Otis Books - Seismicity Editions was published in June 2019. She has published numerous essays and stories in journals and magazines. Dorothy also works for 916 Ink, a literacy nonprofit that conducts creative writing workshops for disadvantaged youth. You can find more of her work at dorothyriceauthor.com and on twitter at @dorothyrowena.
