Author's Bio

Currently serving as the 7th Poet Laureate of San Antonio, Eddie Vega is a poet, spoken word artist, storyteller, and educator.  Originally from the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, his poetry has been displayed on VIA Buses, downtown San Antonio buildings, and the San Pedro Creek Cultural Park. He has published two full-length collections of poetry - Chicharra Chorus, (FlowerSong Press, 2019) and Somos Nopales (FlowerSong Press, 2024). He is also the editor of Asina Is How We Talk, a collection of poetry written en la lengua de la gente. Vega writes about food, Tejano culture, social justice, and the intersections thereof. Known as the Taco-Poet of Texas, he is the director and host of the Mouth Dakota Poetry Project, a biweekly open mic in San Antonio.
