Author's Bio

Lesley Wheeler is Poetry Editor of Shenandoah. Her poetry collections are The State She's In (Tinderbox Editions), Radioland (Barrow Street), Heteropia (Barrow Street), Heathen (C&R) and the chapbooks Propagation (dancing girl) and Scholarship Girl (Finishing Line). Her first novel, Unbecoming (Aqueduct), is forthcoming in 2020 and her essay collection, Poetry's Possible Worlds, will be published in 2021. She co-edited Letters to the World: Poems from the Wom-Po Listserv (Red Hen). Her scholarly books include Voicing American Poetry: Sound and Performance from the 1920s to the Present (Cornell). She earned a PhD in English from Princeton University in 1994 and is Professor of English at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
