Author's Bio

Suzanne Roberts is the author of four poetry collections, Shameless from Cherry Grove (November 2007), Nothing to You, which was a semi-finalist in the 2006 Zone 3 Book Award and the 2006 Blue Lynx Book Prize, from Pecan Grove Press (March 2008), Three Hours to Burn a Body: Poems on Travel (Cherry Grove Collections, 2011), and Plotting Temporality (forthcoming from Pecan Grove Press). Her poems, stories, and essays have been published in many American and Canadian literary journals and anthologies, such as Smartish Pace, ZYZZYVA, Eclipse, Undercurrents, Spillway, The MacGuffin, Gulf Stream, South American Explorers, and elsewhere.

Suzanne currently lives in South Lake Tahoe, California where she teaches English at Lake Tahoe Community College and runs the visiting writers' series.

Suzanne Roberts was named "The Next Great Travel Writer" by National Geographic Traveler Magazine, and her travel essays have been published in national Geographic Traveler and the National Geographic Intelligent Travel website.

Suzanne also is a two-time recipient of the McMillan and Randall Reid Creative Writing Awards from the University of Nevada Reno, and her poetry made finalist in Calyx Magazine's Lois Cranston Award, The River Styx International Poetry Award, The Marlboro Magazine Poetry Prize, and the Smartish Pace Erskine J. Poetry Prize. Her poem "The Falling Sky" was nominated this year by Poems and Plays for the Pushcart Prize. She is also the recipient of the NISOD Excellence in Teaching Award.
