Editorial Focus
The Afterpast Review is a feminist youth-led magazine providing a platform for underrepresented voices around the world. Through this outlet, the editors want to provide a space where an individual is able to freely represent themselves without the fear of being judged or criticized. They hope to learn from the past, cherish the present, and create a better future where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. They will empower today’s youths to create such a change.
Tips From the Editor
At the Afterpast Review, we are not looking for perfect poetry or prose. Instead, we hope to find distinct and unique voices! We want to provide a platform for those voices and their stories. What our magazine looks for: a strong message within the piece (especially if the message is feminist), A unique/distinct voice that shares a powerful story, and a well-developed writing style. We also look into these five categories: Emotional Impact, Relevance to Magazine, Writing Style: Emergence of a Personal Voice (Narrator/Character), Writing Style: Conventions and Rhetorical Choices, and Creativity. A submission doesn’t have to fit all of these requirements to be accepted.
