Kramers

Kramers opened in 1976 and is the first bookstore/cafe in Washington, D.C. The shop has a good stock of LGBT and local literature, as well as a healthy general selection, and is open twenty-four hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Events include author signings and readings.  

Unabridged Bookstore

Owner Ed Devereux opened Unabridged Bookstore in its current location in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in 1980, and while it has expanded since, his vision has remained the same: to promote and sell great books. Unabridged is known for its dedicated and knowledgeable staff, their hand-written personal recommendations, and unparalleled sale book section. The bookstore hosts a variety of author events throughout the year.

The Corner Bookstore

The Corner Bookstore became an instant mecca for a book-hungry Carnegie Hill when it opened in 1978. Located in a landmark neighborhood in New York City, it has been satisfying the literary desires of this residential neighborhood for over three decades. It takes enormous pride in its stock, and carefully selects current adult fiction and nonfiction titles to bring only the best of the best to its customers. Its commitment to carrying “only the best of the best” extends to all sections of the store including history, biography, travel, cookbooks, parenting, poetry, mysteries, and art.

Lorelei Books

Lorelei Books is located in the historic downtown of Vicksburg, Mississippi. The loft apartment above the bookstore accommodates an audience of twenty to thirty and is ideal for poets who prefer intimate venues.

Murder By the Book

One of the nation’s oldest and largest mystery specialty bookstores, Murder By the Book carries over twenty-five thousand books: new and used, hardcovers and paperbacks, first editions, collectibles, gift items, mystery magazines, and more. The shop regularly hosts hundreds of mystery, crime, and fantasy book signing events throughout the year.

University of Minnesota Bookstore

The University of Minnesota bookstore is located in the Coffman Memorial Union on the University of Minnesota campus with easy access to public parking and transportation. Visit and peruse the variety of new fiction, poetry, and nonfiction selections as well as attend author events and meet the minds behind today’s leading literature.

New Dominion Bookshop

Located in Historic Downtown Charlottesville, New Dominion Bookshop is the oldest independent bookseller in Virginia. Their collection of new books includes many selections from fiction, nonfiction, and children’s literature.

The shop hosts author events on the weekends, with a focus on literary fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction events. For event proposals, the shop recommends reaching out about four to six months in advance.

Kaboom Books

Kaboom Books is a used bookstore in Woodland Heights near Downtown Houston. Their stock of one hundred thousand books ranges from current to long out-of-print titles. They regularly host author readings, book signings, and other literary events open to the community.
