Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing

The historic President’s Cottage on the Arizona State University Tempe Campus is the home of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing. Located on the corner of Palm Walk and Tyler Mall, the house was constructed in 1907 and served as the home of the university’s president until 1959. Since that time, it has been used by the ASU Alumni Association for administrative offices (1961–1972) and as the home of the University Archives (1972–1995). The house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is especially fitting as a home for the Virginia G.

Southwestern Writers Collection

The Southwestern Writers Collection is located at the Albert B. Alkek Library on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, a thirty-minute drive from Austin. Although the more renowned writers in this collection have some connection to Texas or the Southwest, either by birth or their subject matter, their impact extends to American letters.

The Huntington Library

The Huntington Library is one facet of The Huntington, a private nonprofit institution. The Library is one of the largest and most complete research libraries in the United States in British and American history and literature. The collection contains the Ellesmere manuscript of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, a Gutenberg Bible on vellum, the double-elephant folio edition of Audubon’s Birds of America, and a world-class collection of the early editions of Shakespeare’s works.

D.C. Public Library: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, the central library of the Distric of Columbia Public Library, opened on August 21, 1972. Designated a historic landmark on June 28, 2007, the city's central library houses public service areas, including subject divisions, meeting rooms and exhibition space, as well as the administrative and support services for all public libraries in Washington, D.C. The library hosts literary events throughout the year.

The Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps, and manuscripts in its collections. The Library of Congress is home to the Center for the Book and the Poetry & Literature Center, which both host author discussions, Poet Laureate readings, and more. The Library also hosts the Poetry 180 program for high schoolers, and each summer it runs the National Book Festival.

Folger Shakespeare Library

Folger Shakespeare Library is home to the world's largest collection of Shakespeare materials, as well as major collections of other rare Renaissance books, manuscripts, and works of art. The Folger serves a wide audience of researchers, visitors, teachers, students, families, and theater-and concert-goers.

The Catholic University of America: Rare Books and Special Collections

The Catholic University of America Special Collections consists of four distinct parts which include the Rare Books, Museum, University Archives, and Manuscript Collections. The Rare Books Collections contain approximately 70,000 volumes, which range from medieval documents to first editions of twentieth century authors. The Manuscript Collection, also known as the American Catholic History Collection, collects personal papers and institutional records which document the heritage and history of the American Catholic people.

The Book Club of California

The Book Club of California is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1912. It supports the art of fine printing related to the history and literature of California and the western states of America through research, publishing, public programs, and exhibitions.
