Author's Bio

Emily Fridlund grew up in Minnesota. She holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. Her debut novel, "History of Wolves," is forthcoming with Grove / Atlantic Inc. Her collection of stories, "Catapult," was chosen by Ben Marcus for the Mary McCarthy Prize and will be published by Sarabande Books. She lives in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

Prizes won: 

Emily Fridlund's stories have twice been nominated for Pushcart Prizes. She is also the recipient of a 2013 McGinnis-Ritchie Award for Fiction, as well as a feminist grant from the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund. Her collection of stories was a finalist for the 2014 Noemi Book Award for Fiction, the 2014 Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction, and the 2013 Tarrt First Fiction Award with the Livingston Press. In 2015, "Catapult" won the Mary McCarthy Prize and will be published by Sarabande Books in 2017.
