Author's Bio

          Lynne Viti is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Westwood, Massachusetts. A graduate of Barnard College and Boston College Law School, she is a  lecturer emerita in the Writing Program at Wellesley College.  She is an experienced workshop leader for grades 9-12, undergraduates, and teenagers and adults in community settings. 
           Beginning with the late Sam Cornish’s poetry workshops at the Boston Public Library fifteen years ago, she turned her energies to writing poetry and fiction. Her work has appeared  in over  200 print and online venues.
         She won the Miram Chaikin/Westbeth Artists' Poetry Award in 2023,   a third prize in the 2023 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Contest, and the 2024 Hale Education poetry contest. She was awarded honorable mentions in the 2014 Glimmer Train Short Fiction Contest, 2015 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Contest,  WOMR/Joe Gouveia Outermost Poetry Contest in  2018,2019, 2020 and 2022,  longlisted for the Fish Poetry Contest in 2020, and nominated for Mass. Book of the Year in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022 and for a Pushcart Prize. She blogs at lynneviti.wordpress.com.
