Literati Bookstore is an independent bookstore in downtown Ann Arbor. Literati aims to be a place where book lovers can go, talk, and interact with each other. They host author readings, book clubs, poetry nights, and are open seven days a week.

Big Blue Marble Bookstore

Big Blue Marble Bookstore is an independently owned bookstore located in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia that specializes in progressive and multicultural titles of interest to Philadelphians in general and Mt. Airy-ites in particular: children’s books; woman-centered pregnancy and parenting; sustainable living; queer, African-American, and Jewish studies; feminist science fiction; literary graphic novels; and more. They host readings, events, book clubs, and other groups throughout the year.

Bank of Books

Bank of Books is an independent, family-owned bookstore that supports the local arts community, including writers, historians, artists, and musicians. They host readings, talks and discussions, storytime, author signings, book groups, music performances, and other literary events throughout the year.

Bowery Poetry

Bowery Poetry is home to poets, writers, and artists of diverse talents and skill sets. The venue is run by Bowery Arts + Science, a nonprofit organization that encourages cooperation and advancement among artists and cultural workers, aims to develop and produce works by emerging poets and performers, and promote the exploration, improvement, and advancement of the arts as a changemaking force in society.

powerHouse on 8th

PowerHouse on 8th is a bookstore, reading club, mini-gallery, and community space in the South Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, offering the best in fiction, nonfiction, children’s, YA, novelty, and cooking books, as well as decor and stationery—all from the curatorial minds hived at Dumbo’s famed powerHouse Arena. The shop hosts book launches, readings, and a Sunday Story Time series.

Woodberry Poetry Room

Woodberry Poetry Room is a special collections reading room and audio-visual archive at Harvard University. The Poetry Room features a circulating collection of twentieth and twenty-first century English-language poetry, an encyclopedic array of poetry journals and literary magazines, a landmark collection of audio recordings (1933 to the present), and the Blue Star collection of rare books, broadsides, chapbooks, typescripts and ephemera.

WORD Jersey City

WORD has two bookstores, one in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and one in Jersey City. Established in 2013, the Jersey City location has an inventory of current and past favorites from all genres and categories as well as a café serving coffee and treats. They host a full calendar of events each month, from provocative and thoughtful to flat-out fun.

Avid Bookshop is a locally-owned, Athens, Georgia-based business. The shop regularly holds events such as readings and book signings, kids’ story times, poetry nights, workshops with authors, and more.
