Vroman’s Bookstore

Founded in 1894, Vroman’s is an independent family-run bookstore, a literary landmark, and a community center. The bookstore hosts over four hundred events a year, including author signings, launch parties, children’s storytimes, craft classes, and trivia nights. With a strong history of philanthropy, Vroman’s has supported many institutions and charitable causes and the Vroman’s Gives Back program donates a portion of purchases to a local organization of a customer’s choice.

Green Apple Books

Founded in 1967, this independent bookstore provides new and used books of all genres. Green Apple often hosts local authors for readings and book signings. The main bookstore features two floors of new and used nonfiction, new releases, children’s books, cookbooks, and has book buyback hours everyday. A Fiction & Music Annex featuring new and used fiction, music, movies, graphics novels, science fiction, mystery, and more is located down the street at 520 Clement Street.

WordsWorth Books & Co. is the oldest independent bookstore in Little Rock. It sells a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles, as well as books about local interests and various gifts. Trident Booksellers & Café

Founded in 1984, Trident Booksellers & Café is a restaurant and bookstore located near Fenway Park in Boston. The café, which offers fresh food, juices, tea, coffee, and espresso, is surrounded by shelves of new and discounted books. The Trident also features an award-winning magazine selection and a variety of novelty gifts. Hours are 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM seven days a week.

WORD Brooklyn

WORD has two bookstores, one in Brooklyn and one in Jersey City. Established in 2007, the Brooklyn location is a one thousand square-foot independent neighborhood bookstore in Greenpoint that hosts everything from the classic author reading and Q&A to potlucks and a basketball league (and anything set in a bar). Store hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day.

A Room of One’s Own

Founded in 1975, A Room of One’s Own is a feminist bookstore in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The store specializes in women’s literature and offers a wide selection of fiction, nonfiction, periodicals, music, posters, and T-shirts for and by women. A Room of One’s Own also maintains a non-sexist children's section and stocks up-to-date titles in lesbian and gay studies, bisexual and transgender books, gender studies, as well as lesbian and gay male fiction. The store hosts several author events throughout the year.

Skylight Books

Open since 1996, Skylight Books is an independent bookstore in Los Angeles. Skylight Books hosts regular author events and book discussion group meetings, and has a large offering of literary magazines for sale along with new books.
