Four yearlong fellowships of $72,000, writing space at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City, access to research facilities, and research assistance from a graduate student are given annually to nonfiction writers working on biographies. An additional Sloan Fellowship of the same amount is given annually to a writer working on a biography of a figure in the field of science or technology. Using only the online submission system, submit a sample of up to 2,500 words from the biography, a curriculum vitae, a project description, a narrative career history, and two letters of reference by January 6, 2025. Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency

The Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency, sponsored by the Columbus Museum, offers a three-month residency from May through July to a poet, fiction writer, or nonfiction writer at the Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson home studio in the Shepard neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The resident is provided with a $15,000 stipend; a private room, studio, and bathroom; and access to Robinson’s art, archive, and library. Robinson’s bungalow-style home also features a living room, a sunroom, and a dining room.

Mississippi Review Prize

Three prizes of $1,000 each and publication in Mississippi Review are given annually for a single poem, a short story, and an essay. Current or former University of Southern Mississippi students are ineligible. Pacific Residency Writers Conference

The Pacific Residency Writers Conference, sponsored by Pacific University’s creative writing MFA program, will be held from January 9, 2025, to January 19, 2025, in the beachside resort town of Seaside, Oregon. The conference features craft talks, workshops, panels, roundtable discussions, and student and faculty readings for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. Fall Story Contest

Jack Hazard Fellowships

Ten fellowships of $5,000 each are given annually to creative writers who are high school teachers to support summer work on an ongoing fiction, creative nonfiction, or memoir project. Full-time instructors at accredited U.S. high schools teaching in the 2024–2025 academic year who are contracted to return to their schools in fall 2025 and who have been teaching for at least three years are eligible. The New Literary Project selection committee and program director Ian S. Maloney will judge. Translation Prize

Two prizes of $10,000 each are given annually for translations from French into English of a book of fiction and a book of nonfiction (including creative nonfiction) published in the United States during the current year. A jury of translators and literary professionals will judge. Authors, translators, agents, and publishers may submit six excerpts (three from the original French and three matching selections from the English translation) of approximately six pages each from a book published in 2024 by January 10, 2025. Jacobs/Jones African American Literary Prize
