A prize of $2,500 is given annually for a book of fiction or creative nonfiction published during the current year that is set in the Midwest or by a writer who is a resident of the Midwest (or who previously resided in the Midwest for at least five years). The prize may be split if more than one winner is selected. Writers who have published up to three books are eligible. Self-published books are not accepted. Memoir Prize

Leon Levy Biography Fellowships

Four yearlong fellowships of $72,000, writing space at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City, access to research facilities, and research assistance from a graduate student are given annually to nonfiction writers working on biographies. An additional Sloan Fellowship of the same amount is given annually to a writer working on a biography of a figure in the field of science or technology. Using only the online submission system, submit a sample of up to 2,500 words from the biography, a curriculum vitae, a project description, a narrative career history, and two letters of reference by January 6, 2025. Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency

The Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency, sponsored by the Columbus Museum, offers a three-month residency from May through July to a poet, fiction writer, or nonfiction writer at the Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson home studio in the Shepard neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The resident is provided with a $15,000 stipend; a private room, studio, and bathroom; and access to Robinson’s art, archive, and library. Robinson’s bungalow-style home also features a living room, a sunroom, and a dining room.

Mississippi Review Prize

Current or former University of Southern Mississippi students are ineligible. Pacific Residency Writers Conference

The Pacific Residency Writers Conference, sponsored by Pacific University’s creative writing MFA program, will be held from January 9, 2025, to January 19, 2025, in the beachside resort town of Seaside, Oregon. The conference features craft talks, workshops, panels, roundtable discussions, and student and faculty readings for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty includes poets Ellen Bass, Leila Chatti, Adrienne Christian, Eduardo C. Corral, Kwame Dawes, Tyree Daye, Frank X.
