Event Horizon

Event Horizon offers residencies of two weeks to three months year-round to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on eight acres of olive groves in Crete, Greece. Residents are provided with lodging on site or in nearby affiliate housing, which includes a traditional Cretan house, a converted stone windmill, and two caravans, as well as work space in modern studios built from converted shipping containers. Residents will have access to nearby beaches and towns, including Fourní Village, Mirabello Bay, and Neapolis.

The winner is also invited to read at the Poetry Society of Virginia’s annual Spring Poetry Festival, held at the Library of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, in May 2025. Self-published books are ineligible. Thomas Gardner will judge. Submit three copies of a book no less than 50 pages in length that was published in 2024 with a $36 entry fee ($25 for current PSV members), which includes a one-year membership to the organization, by January 15, 2025. Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency

The Aminah Robinson Writer/Scholar/Researcher Residency, sponsored by the Columbus Museum, offers a three-month residency from May through July to a poet, fiction writer, or nonfiction writer at the Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson home studio in the Shepard neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The resident is provided with a $15,000 stipend; a private room, studio, and bathroom; and access to Robinson’s art, archive, and library. Robinson’s bungalow-style home also features a living room, a sunroom, and a dining room.
